Concord Coalition to End Homelessness Searches for Contestants for Fall Talent Show

Have you been honing your special talent at home over the past few weeks? Dreaming of a day when you can show it off? The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) wants to help you perform for people besides your friends and family, on stage (not just on Zoom) and under the bright lights.

For the second time in two years the CCEH will hold its Talent Show on October 3rd to raise funds to help end homelessness in the Capital City. Last year’s event featured ten acts and raised $30,000 for the organization’s mission.

“The quality of the talent in the Concord area is simply off-the-charts,” said Greg Lessard, Chair of the Talent Show Committee. “And, the community just responded so well to this brand new event last year – over fifty local businesses sponsored the Talent Show and ticket sales were just-shy of selling out.”

Before there’s a Talent Show, however, there must be auditions, which are scheduled for June 6th and 7th at two Concord locations: Area 23 and Litherman’s Limited Brewery. Given the current Stay At Home order, contestants and fans can stay tuned to CCEH’s website and Facebook page for updates regarding dates and locations for auditions.

The first auditions will be held at Area 23, located in the Smokestack Center at 254 N. State St., on June 6th. Litherman’s Limited Brewery, 126 Hall St. Unit B, will then host aspiring performing artists on June 7th.

Those interested in auditioning should visit https://concordhomeless.org/talent-show-about/ to view the contest rules and submit an application to perform. The deadline for applications is May 15th, 2020.

“Last year’s inaugural Talent Show saw a huge number of applications, and it was truly difficult to eliminate some acts from the final event,” said Lessard. “The auditions themselves featured top-notch performances; every act was just phenomenal.”

Applicants’ entries will be screened in May, with the selected contestants invited to perform at the live auditions in June at either Area 23 or Litherman’s. Performers will advance to the October 3rd Talent Show based on the judges’ opinions and show off their talents before a live audience at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage, 16 S. Main St., Concord, NH. Last year’s event attracted almost 300 spectators.

The October 3rd event will include on-site games and audience voting, and feature food service provided by the theater’s Main Street neighbors: Concord Food Co-op and O’s Steak and Seafood.
