Construction is now underway on Allenstown’s future McDonald’s location, with crews making visible progress at the former Aubuchon Hardware site on Turnpike Street.

The project will redevelop the property at 77 Turnpike Street, where Aubuchon Hardware served the community for decades before relocating across the street to the former Rite Aid building. Following a series of planning and zoning approvals, work is now moving forward on the new restaurant.

From Hardware Store to Fast Food Restaurant

The redevelopment marks a significant change for one of Allenstown’s longtime commercial properties. After Aubuchon Hardware moved to its new location, the former building was demolished to make way for the project.

Construction of the building is progressing rapidly.

According to local reports, plans for the new McDonald’s include a double drive-thru, customer parking, updated landscaping, and new signage. Town boards reviewed the proposal through multiple meetings as traffic, site design, and utility considerations were addressed.

Residents driving along Turnpike Street can now see construction activity at the site as the project continues to take shape.

A New Addition to Allenstown

The restaurant represents one of the more visible commercial developments currently underway in Allenstown. While some residents have expressed nostalgia for the longtime hardware store location, others see the project as a sign of continued investment in the community.

McDonald’s has not publicly announced an official opening date, and it remains unclear whether the location will be company operated or owned by a franchisee. However, previous local reports indicated the restaurant was tentatively expected to open this year.

The location is planned for an opening later this year.

As construction continues, the new restaurant is expected to bring another dining option to Allenstown and add a recognizable national brand to the town’s commercial corridor.

Looking For a Job?

Job openings for the future Allenstown McDonald’s have not yet been posted online. Those interested in applying can keep an eye on the McDonald’s careers website as the project moves closer to completion and hiring begins.
