On August 1st, over 100 New Hampshire businesses and organizations will join the NH Food Alliance (NHFA) to launch 2023 NH Eats Local Month. NHFA and its NH Eat Local Month allies will be encouraging Granite Staters to eat food grown, harvested, and produced in New Hampshire during August, as well as celebrating the farmers, fishermen, small businesses, and advocates that make the state’s food system so dynamic.

NH Eats Local Month is a month-long collaborative grassroots marketing effort that connects Granite Staters directly to farmers, fishers, restaurants, food producers, markets and farm stands, and other food-related companies to promote New Hampshire-grown, harvested, and produced food. From the Seacoast to the North Country, NH Eats Local Month promotes the state’s food and farm economy by compiling Farmers’ Market guides and Pick Your Own lists, sharing stories about farmers, chefs, brewers, and other food producers, and collaborating with local food-focused organizations and businesses.

The Live Free + Eat Local Challenge

The 2023 NH Eats Local Month activities. To participate in the Challenge, Granite Staters must eat food grown, caught, or produced in New Hampshire and provide the name of the farm, fishery, or food business where they ate. You can enter the Challenge every time you eat locally, increasing your chances of winning one of the dozens of prizes offered by NH Eats Local Month partners.

“We know Granite Staters are eager to participate in the Live Free + Eat Local Challenge.” In New Hampshire, welcoming our local farmers, fishermen, and food producers is a way of life. The Challenge allows everyone to not only support but also celebrate and share our food system with their friends, families, and coworkers. “Food brings us all together, and I’m excited to see how both eaters and partners can pull out all the stops this August to celebrate local food,” said Colleen Stewart, Communications Coordinator for the NH Food Alliance.
