The New Hampshire Rivers Council will host its 2025 annual meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, beginning at 6:30 PM at the Conservation Center, located at 54 Portsmouth Street in Concord. The event is open to the public and will feature light refreshments, organizational updates, and a special presentation on one of New Hampshire’s most essential infrastructure systems; it’s dams.
Overview of the Event
Guests are invited to arrive at 6:00 PM to enjoy refreshments and informal conversation before the evening’s formal agenda begins. The event will start with council representatives providing updates on recent projects, ongoing initiatives, and upcoming efforts aimed at protecting and managing New Hampshire’s rivers and watersheds.
This year’s featured guest speaker is Corey Clark, Chief Engineer of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Water Division’s Dam Bureau. Mr. Clark will present, “Everything you always wanted to know about NH’s dams but were afraid to ask: Wow, that’s a lot of dams”.
The presentation will explore the number and types of dams throughout the state, how they are regulated, and the unique challenges involved in managing and funding state-owned dams. Mr. Clark will also answer questions and lead a discussion on New Hampshire’s water infrastructure and dam safety initiatives.
About the Speaker
Corey Clark has served as the Chief Engineer of the Dam Bureau since 2023 and brings extensive experience in water resource management, safety engineering, and dam operations. Prior to his current role, Clark served in multiple capacities within the Dam Bureau, including as Chief Engineering and Construction Engineer and as a Dam Safety Engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in the same field from the University of New Hampshire.

About the New Hampshire Rivers Council
The New Hampshire Rivers Council traces its roots to the New Hampshire Rivers Campaign, a grassroots coalition formed in 1985. That campaign led to the creation of the state’s Rivers Management and Protection Program in 1989 and played a key role in establishing corridor protections under the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act.
The Council is dedicated to the conservation and ecologically sound management of the state’s rivers, watersheds, and natural resources.
