Founder: Samantha Palmer
Based in: Lake Sunapee Region, NH
Samantha Palmer knows firsthand how hard it can be to travel with young children. After a family trip where she struggled to bring all the necessary baby gear, she returned home with both a realization and a plan. “I launched the business in August 2024 after traveling with my own family and realizing just how challenging it was to bring all the baby gear we needed,” Palmer explains.
BabyQuip is a leading baby equipment rental service operating in over 2,000 cities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand. A quick search however showed there was nothing serving central New Hampshire. That gap led her to create Lake Sunapee BabyQuip, a local service dedicated to easing the load for families vacationing in the Lake Sunapee region and surrounding areas.
Comforts of Home Delivered Today
Lake Sunapee BabyQuip quickly gained traction for offering high-quality, familiar baby items that make traveling with little ones much easier. The most rented item? Palmer shares it is, “the full-size wooden crib, which folds for easy transport but sets up just like a traditional crib you’d use at home.”
Families frequently pair it with the optional Newton mattress upgrade for added comfort. Palmer stocks her inventory with trusted, name-brand gear. “We also offer a mix of familiar, trusted brands like Graco so families know exactly what they’re getting,” she says, underscoring the importance of dependability when it comes to young children.
Safety-Centered Service
Every piece of gear is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between uses. “Every item goes through a thorough cleaning and sanitizing process using baby-safe, eco-friendly products,” says Palmer. She follows a strict protocol to ensure each item is “safe, spotless, and ready for a new little traveler.” This is an important step in ensuring that both families’ and babies’ needs are met.
Serving a Wide Region with Convenience
Lake Sunapee BabyQuip serves a large swath of New Hampshire including Manchester, Concord, the Dartmouth region, and Lake Sunapee. They also serve Quechee, Vermont. The service is entirely contactless, with delivery and pickup options designed for maximum convenience. “We offer fully contactless delivery and pickup, with the option for items to be set up before a family arrives and picked up after they leave,” Palmer explains. “It’s one of the things that makes our service so stress-free for busy parents.”
The business also extends its impact through an affiliate program designed for inns, hotels, and short-term rentals. “Partners receive a unique referral link and earn a 10% commission on bookings,” Palmer says. “Since we’re fully insured and handle everything start to finish, it’s a win-win for both the host and the guest.”
Memorable Moments and Community Roots
Some of Palmer’s favorite moments have come from working with multigenerational families. “Especially when grandparents are in awe that a service like this exists,” she says. “They’ll often share stories about how hard it used to be to travel with young children, and it’s so rewarding to know I’m helping make those same types of trips easier and more enjoyable today.”
As a lifelong local, Palmer is proud to support family travel in a region close to her heart. “I often remind my kids how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place that people travel here for vacation,” she says. “That sense of pride drives everything I do with Lake Sunapee BabyQuip.”
