A gentle and affectionate young dog in northern New Hampshire is still searching for a permanent home after being rescued as a puppy from the streets alongside her sister.

Oatley enjoys walks and playing in the snow.
At just one year old and around 70 pounds, Oatley is described as loving, protective, and happiest when surrounded by both people and animals. She is currently being fostered in Woodsville, New Hampshire by Jennie Gingras. Oatley dawns a cream coat, and is believed to be a Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix.
She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and has already proven herself to be both a wonderful house dog and a loyal watchdog.
Oatley enjoys long walks, hikes, and spending time outdoors, especially during the winter months. According to her foster, one of her favorite activities is romping through deep snow before curling up beside the woodstove at the end of the day.
“She loves her people, too,” Gingras said.
Oatley also gets along well with other dogs and cats and would likely thrive in a home with space to roam, a large yard, or a role where she can feel protective and engaged. In quieter moments, she is content simply lying beside her humans while they relax or read.
The Value of Fostering and Adoption

Oatley is a loving, friendly dog.
Stories like Oatley’s highlight the important role foster families play in animal rescue. Fostering gives dogs a safe and stable environment while they wait for permanent homes, helping them build trust, social skills, and routines that make future adoption easier.
Adopting a fostered pet can also give families a better understanding of the animal’s personality, habits, and needs before bringing them home permanently.
For Oatley, fostering has provided time, care, and stability while she waits for the right match.
