At first glance, Jenetically Twisted looks like an independent apparel brand filled with witty graphics and sarcastic humor. Spend a little time with it, though, and something else begins to emerge. Beneath the T-shirts is a place where people who have always felt a little different are reminded they aren’t alone.

Jen Murphy, Owner of Jenetically Twisted

Founder and artist, Jen Murphy, didn’t set out simply to create clothing. She set out to create connection. “I’ve started describing Jenetically Twisted as a sanctuary disguised as a T-shirt company,” she says. “The shirts might make you laugh, but my hope is that the writing, conversations, and community behind them remind people that it’s okay to be human.”

While apparel is the most visible part of Jenetically Twisted, it isn’t the destination—it’s the invitation. Through blogs, social media, and honest conversations about life’s twists and turns, Jen hopes to create a space where people feel understood rather than judged.

Some visitors may come for a funny shirt. Others may stay because they find words they needed to hear. “We’re all carrying something,” Jen says. “If someone laughs at a design and then realizes they’re not the only one navigating change, burnout, grief, self-discovery, or starting over, then I’ve accomplished something much bigger than selling a T-shirt.”

Jenetically Twisted is still growing, just like the people it hopes to serve. New designs are added regularly, but the mission remains the same: to create things that make people laugh, think, feel seen, and remember they don’t have to navigate life’s twists and turns alone.

After all, sometimes the best conversations begin with something as simple as a T-shirt.
