The 18th annual Pedaling for Payson event was held by the Concord Hospital Trust on September 9, 2023, in Elm Brook Park in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. A total of 279 cyclists took part in the event. Over two hundred thousand dollars were collected in order to assist the Nurse Navigator Program at the Payson Center for Cancer Care at Concord Hospital.

The Nurse Navigator Program at the Payson Center for Cancer Care will receive support from the funds.

Cancer patients and their families can benefit from the assistance of nurse navigators throughout the course of cancer therapy. This year, the program provided assistance to 140 patients.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of support for the Pedaling for Payson event,” said Veronica Rosa, chief advancement officer of the organization. This year’s event saw a 16% rise in the number of riders and brought in $40,000 more than it did the previous year. We are able to offer patients with cancer access to vital services throughout the course of their cancer treatment thanks to the generous support of cycling enthusiasts and sponsors.

The top three teams brought in a combined total of more than $42,000, with Friends of Day Surgery bringing in $18,630, Team NEMBA bringing in $13,760, and Team HOPE bringing in $10,098. In addition, the following people were recognized for their contributions to the fundraising effort: Mark Schiewetz and Dr. Scott Oosterveen, both of Friends of Day Surgery, with a total of $10,835 and $6,895, respectively; Matt Bowser, of Team NEMBA, with a total of $5,975.

Pedaling for Payson would not be possible without the generous support of our major sponsors, including Concord Orthopaedics, The Demoulas Foundation, Ragged Mountain Resort, Concord Imaging Center, S&W Sports, The Common Man, Johnny Prescott Oil, Swenson Granite Works, Harvey Construction, New Hampshire Distributors, Voya Financial, M&T Bank, Dennehy & Bouley, Devine, Millimet & Branch P.A., and Trek Bicycle Concord.

There were fifteen volunteers from the community and employees of Concord Hospital who assisted with the event.
